Description
Old Raven House is a Grade II listed building steeped in history dating back to the 1500’s, formerly a coaching inn, situated in the pretty village of Hook close to Hartley Wintney, Rotherwick and Basingstoke. It has immense charm and character, is tastefully decorated and furnished with comfort in mind. We have 36 pretty rooms of varying sizes and designs.
We were the first Care Hotel to open in the south of England.
The main aim is to provide the best, and most appropriate care possible for each individual. Our committed well qualified care team work to provide an environment which nurtures and supports whilst allowing space for each resident to be themselves, & remain as independent as possible.
Our mission statement was created by our staff in a workshop and speaks for itself “At Old Raven House Care Hotel, we take pride in creating a warm, welcoming environment. Within our unique setting we provide the best possible standard of care through which we promote individuality, encourage independence and nurture the wellbeing of residents, visitors and staff alike”
Old Raven House has extremely high standards. We had four consecutive inspections from the Commission for Social Care Inspection without any recommendations or requirements. We received a four score for our restaurant, support of personnel and for running the home in the best interests of the residents. To underscore our commitment to staff and therefore to client services we hold ‘the investors in people’ award.
We are confident that our Quality Assurance programme is followed by the letter. Regular ‘Resident’s Forums’ are held where residents can voice their opinions on all aspects of their care and support. You are assigned a key worker who will build a special relationship with you and therefore monitor how successfully we are meeting those needs. The manager’s door is always open to go in to have a chat or voice any concern you or your family may have.
We are confident that our Quality Assurance programme is followed by the letter. Each quarter we hold a ‘Residents Forum’ where residents can voice their opinions on all aspects of their care and support. They have choices and are of course encouraged to be as independent as possible, which is why we call ourselves a care hotel. This is all formally documented and forms are completed in confidence by each resident to evaluate and ensure improvement in all areas. All our entertainment programmes, menus, outings are selected by our residents, we do not presume to make choices on their behalf without consultation.
At Old Raven House there is always something to do . We have an extensive activities programme both in house and outings, plus visiting entertainers to keep you busy. The library visits every three weeks, and we have well stocked book shelves for your enjoyment. Regular activities include, Bingo, sing-alongs, exercise classes, film shows, Giant crossword, Reminiscence and knitting circle.
We offer every service possible, including a hair salon where you can have your hair done any day of the week. Visiting chiropodist, beauty therapist, plus room service if you are not feeling up to going to the restaurant. If you should become unwell, we endeavour to care for you in your home here as long as possible, with the support of the district nurse team and our excellent G.P. who visits regularly each week and responds very positively to any request for visits at any other time.
All in all you will be able to feel safe, protected, comforted and cared for, whilst maintaining your most important asset, your own identity.
