Description
Colehaven Cottages, in the heart of Coleshill, were built in the 1930s in the attractive style of old-fashioned alms houses. The cottages are intended for those who are still happy to cook and shop for themselves. A 24 hour alarm call system is in place in each cottage.
The cottages are bright and comfortable, each with a living room, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and lavatory. They are furnished with carpets and curtains, but residents are asked to bring their own pictures, ornaments and furniture to their new home. Each cottage also has a small garden area, which the gardener will maintain if residents do not wish to do so. The cottages are for single accommodation only. Colehaven also has a large room known as the Trust Room, which is available for special occasions such as residents' birthdays.
A day in the life
The companionship of like-minded people is one of the joys of a communal living, and activities of all kinds should be an integral part of the care provided in residential homes.
Many people have sustained hobbies and interests throughout their lives and every effort is made to enable our residents to continue to pursue these.
Residents enjoy trips in our specially adapted minibuses to places of interest and entertainment or simply to the local shops.
Let's take a glance across the activities list of just one of our Homes, Grove Court, in Woodbridge.
The bar is open daily before lunch with happy hour before dinner on Mondays.
Under 'Forthcoming Events' residents will find a quiz night on Wednesday,
Fisherman's Fare in the downstairs dining room on Friday,
Music in the Cherry Lounge on Monday,
An outing to a nearby beauty spot on Wednesday and a Festive Supper on Friday.
The Residents Committee has a meeting scheduled.
The House Committee is having a fashion show.
The Luncheon Club will meet next Tuesday and details of the Gardening and Needlecraft clubs can be found in the weekly activities sheet distributed to all residents.
A wine tasting and concert are also planned.
Residents, of course, are free to participate in the leisure activities that appeal to them most.
For anyone needing assistance to attend events, members of staff are only too willing to join in the fun!
